Report: U City's Nelly to Play The Pageant in August
University City's own Nelly is coming home to play the Delmar Loop.

Vatterott Voice Concert, featuring Nelly, Murphy Lee, open to the public
The Vatterott Voice Concert series begins a 13-campus tour on April 25 at the ex’treme Institute campus, 800 N. Third St. in St. Louis. Grammy Award-winning rapper Murphy Lee headlines the outdoor concert along with other musical talents. The complimentary concert is open to Vatterott students and members of the general public who are more than 18 years old.
The four-hour concert begins at 4 p.m, and the lineup of performances opens with the four winners of the ex’treme Institute talent contest and appearances from DJ Sno, Christina J, Aloha, Seviin Li, Tef Poe, Fresco Kane and concludes with St. Louis rapper Murphy Lee. Twelve additional concerts are scheduled in St. Louis, Memphis, Kansas City, Cleveland, Omaha, Oklahoma City, Joplin and Wichita.

Customers can request a custom updo at the salons in St. Charles, Berkley, or Fairview Heights, Ill.

L’École Culinaire's Chef Instructor Jimmy Gentry Featured in Southern Living Contest
L’École Culinaire’s own Chef Instructor Jimmy Gentry was recently featured in Southern Living Magazine. Gentry was among the chefs the magazine snapped at the “South’s Tastiest Towns” voting party at Hog & Hominy restaurant. Chef Gentry was in attendance to lend his support to Memphis in this popular Southern Living contest.

Vatterott Student Group Helps Graduate Fix House
A group of Vatterott students came together Friday to help out a recent graduate, and this is just one of many projects the Random Acts of Kindness group has taken on to help out the community.
When student body president Lason Leyerle asked for students to help out a recent graduate with a hole in the roof, even cosmetology students stepped up to help out in any way they could.

Nelly surprises students at Ex'treme Institute
Sunday night's Academy Awards featured performances from Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson and Adele, but on Monday afternoon, students at Ex'treme Institute by Nelly got their own surprise when the hip-hop artist stopped by to say hello.
The school offers a really cool opportunity for students to learn the music business and starting today the college has two new associate degree programs and two new diploma programs.

Vatterott College Builds Record Breaking Smoker
The Vatterott College – NorthPark’s welding program – is helping the St. Louis Baconfest team break a record. Baconfest plans to cook 500 pounds of bacon in a custom built smoker created by the students in the welding program at Vatterott College’s NorthPark campus. Baconfest runs from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 in Kiener Plaza.

Vatterott job fair offers over 130 jobs to tri-state residents
While there may be signs that the economy is looking up, many people in the tri-states are still without a job.
To help those looking for work, Vatterott hosted a job fair Wednesday at the Quincy Mall with more than 130 jobs available.
Applicants young and old were looking for work at Wednesday's job fair, for many, it's been a long struggle.
The hallways of the Quincy Mall were packed with tri-state residents looking for a job. One of those browsing through the 27 perspective employers was Phil Nichols.

Four Webster Groves' Students Among 12 Final Acts in St. Louis Teen Talent Competition
Special guest judges this year are Missouri native Taylor Louderman, star of Broadway’s “Bring It On: The Musical,” and St. Louis native Annie Wersching, stage and TV actress best known for her role on “24,” and who is now appearing on the new “Dallas.” Returning this year are Ken Page, native St. Louisan and Broadway performer; Carl Nappa, independent producer, engineer and executive director of technology and sound engineering at Nelly’s ex’treme Institute in St. Louis; Mike Isaacson, artistic director of the Muny and producer with Fox Theatricals in New York; Steven Woolf, artistic director of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis; and Adam Sage, artistic director of Missouri Ballet Theatre. New this year is Bret Dorhout, vice president for artistic administration with the Saint Louis Symphony.

Hip-hop's Murphy Lee, Jay-E team for new project
Two hip-hop staples are joining forces for a special project that has “slam dunk” written all over it.
Grammy-winning rapper Murphy Lee of the St. Lunatics and hit-making producer Jason “Jay-E” Epperson are knee-deep working on a new album, “Murphy Lee vs. Jay-E.” They’ll debut its first single, “Up and Down Love,” this weekend.
The catchy “Up and Down Love” will debut at an open house for the ex’treme Institute by Nelly on Sunday afternoon followed by a video première Sunday night at the Pepper Lounge.

Frankie D's in Belleville aims to be a family favorite
It might have been divine intervention when Frankie Haynes and Kelly Dove spotted the location for their new eatery.
...Besides the day-to-day help of Kelly, 47, who handles the customers and the money, Frankie is paired up in the kitchen with Jimmy, 38, who attends L'Ecole Culinaire in St. Louis. The duo are former professional wrestlers who went by the tag-team name Bodily Harm. Frankie got the name "Frankie D" because his promoter at the time thought "it sounded good."

Nelly Stops By For A Special Visit With Students In The New Associate Degree Programs At Ex’treme Institute
Grammy Award-winning artist and entrepreneur Nelly made a special visit to his music school, ex’treme Institute by Nelly, on Monday, Feb. 25. Monday was the first day of classes for students enrolled in the two new Associate Degree Programs: Entertainment and Media Business with Management and Recording, Engineering and Producing with Management. Students received the surprise of their lives and were able to meet a true St. Louis legend and artist, Nelly.

RTA hires first female electrician
Last month, just past the turn of the New Year, Angela Summers fulfilled her dream becoming a line maintainer for Regional Transit Authority (RTA) – a position she sought since signing on with the company a little over three years ago. She attended Vatterott College and was the only female in the class. With her eyes set on becoming an electrician, she made the Dean’s List seven times.
