Students receive instruction from experienced experts in each Computer Aided Drafting Technology (CAD) course at Vatterott College in Joplin. The Diploma in CAD introduces students to fundamental drafting concepts and autoCAD, as well as civil and residential architecture. Classes progress toward more advanced concepts such as customizing autoCAD, mechanical design, solid modeling, 3-D studio viz, and much more.
The objective of the Computer Aided Drafting program is to give students the skills needed to meet the employment requirements of an entry-level computer draftsperson. Students graduating from this program will learn the necessary skills to obtain employment in the drafting field with a working knowledge of project management, CAD customization and CAD as it applies to the mechanical, architectural and civil/structural fields.
“As more freight is shipped across the country, additional trucks, and corresponding truck repairers, will be needed. Opportunities should be very good for people with strong technical skills and who complete formal training in diesel mechanics at community colleges or vocational schools.”
Facilities
The CAD program at Vatterott College in Joplin is equipped with computer labs that offer the latest software and hardware meant to help students learn efficiently. Labs are open additional hours to provide work-study time outside of classes. Enrollment provides each student online resources such as library services, a student portal, email and online companion courses.
