Students receive instruction from experienced fitness experts in each Personal Fitness Trainer course at Vatterott College in Fairview Heights. The Personal Fitness Trainer program begins with an introduction to anatomy and physiology, fundamental nutrition concepts, and a personal wellness overview. Classes progress toward advanced topics such as kinesiology, exercise psychology, and a comprehensive personal trainer externship.
The objective of this diploma program is to prepare the graduates for entry level employment as a personal trainer in gyms, fitness centers, private studios, corporate wellness programs or to start their own personal fitness training business. Students will be trained to perform a variety of exercise related assessments and tests, design safe and effective fitness programs, implement safe and effective weight loss/gain programs, and receive instruction regarding a variety of business related skills.
The Personal Fitness Trainer program will include certification training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillators (AED) and preparation for taking the NSCA-CPT certification exam, offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), to become a Certified Personal Trainer.

Personal Fitness Trainer courses at Vatterott College - Fairview Heights provide the latest training techniques and instruction, meant to help students learn efficiently. Computer labs are open additional hours to provide work-study time outside of classes. Enrollment provides each student online resources such as library services, a student portal, email and online companion courses.
