Students receive instruction from industry experienced experts in each HVAC training course in Des Moines. The HVAC Diploma program provides courses in fundamental electricity, refrigeration, air conditioning and heating fundamentals. Students learn how to calculate heating and cooling loads, study techniques for reading and using blueprints, specifications and shop drawings, and receive hands on training for soldering, brazing, wiring, creating duct work and cutting, threading, and joining ferrous piping. The HVAC training courses include topics such as power generation, transformers, induction motors, heat transfer, soldering procedures, humidity control and air cleanliness, blueprints, circuit diagrams, various electrical heating and cooling equipment, iron and steel pipe fittings, belt drives, boilers, forced air distribution and much more.
The objective of this program is to prepare the graduate with the theory and working knowledge of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, high pressure steam, energy management, and commercial environmental systems, in order to secure an entry-level position in the industry as a maintenance or service technician. Graduates of this program should possess the skills for residential and commercial employment.
