The National Court Reporters Foundation will fund student membership in NCRA for those students that volunteer for the Oral Histories Program and complete two Veterans History Project transcriptions within one year. The Veterans History Project (VHP) is the first of many oral history projects that will be supported by NCRF.

On the first Wednesday of every month, 12 students to go to Providence Tower Senior Citizen Assisted Living, cut hair, perform facials and visit with the residents

Sponsoring Pike Park Recreational Center. Students care for underprivileged children, watch and feed them. They also do the same one day a week for senior citizens. The services are free for the underprivileged. They have arranged for them to come to the school one day a month to receive free services at the school.

NEXUS. About 15 student volunteers assisted women who were completing drug rehab. The women were given clothes and makeovers in order to start job searches.

The Des Moines campus brings medical teams in from Minneapolis to examine children for treatment and use in their Medical lab.

 

 

The Joplin campus sponsors a table every year for the American Red Cross Heroes Have a Heart breakfast. This is their major fundraiser where the local chapter recognizes heroes in their own community and takes nominations for these heroes by the citizens of the community.

 

Electrical Department students donated their time and skills to assist a local church. The students installed lights and switches.

Computer Technology - The students diagnose computers for the public. They set up a repair shop environment and get great experience with customer service as well as technical abilities.

The objective of this program is to prepare the graduate with the theory and the entrylevel working knowledge of the maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical systems commonly found in office buildings, hospitals, schools, utility companies and industrial plants. In addition, the student will learn fundamental skills in drawing
schematics and blueprints as well as proficiencies in environmental control systems.

• American Cancer Society Relay for Life – The American Cancer Society Relay for Life was held at Clontz Field in Troy, Missouri. Vatterott College was represented by 4 staff members, 10 students from the Cosmetology program, and over a dozen family members. We had a booth set up where walkers could stop and pay to spin the “Cosmo Wheel of Chance” for free or discounted services, as well as raffles for bags of cosmo products.

• Quarterly Blood Drives in partnership with the Oklahoma Blood Institute led by the Medical Office Assistant Program
• Medical Office Assistant Program spearheaded fundraiser for the Leukemia Society involving entire campus
• The Learning Resource Center (Campus Library) gathers and provides free used children’s books to any enrolled Vatterott College student for their children.
• The Vatterott College campus is responsible for keeping a 2-mile section of the Heffner Parkway in Northwest Oklahoma City clean through the State Adopt-A-Highway Program
• The campus director participated in the recent Muscular Dystrophy Lock-up program to raise funds for Jerry’s Kids. Over a $1,000 dollars raised to pay the bail.
• Member of the campus staff serves as a member of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors – welcoming new businesses to the community.
• Campus is member of Central Oklahoma Workforce Investment Systems Partners – contributing to the planning and execution of workforce investment board goals and objectives.
• Campus is member of the Central Oklahoma Workforce Investment Board’s Youth task force – Making the Grade. Providing speakers and scholarships to high school seniors during the school year and at graduation.
• Campus donates meeting space to local writers club – “Wordwrights” who meet monthly with the purpose of publishing their works.
• The campus staff has collected and donates out to referred students, clothing, and other necessities to enter the job market upon graduation, as well as be able to improve upon their appearance while attending school.

  • Vet tech students also form teams that participate in the walk
  • Proceeds from that fundraiser go to the humane society
• The Ohama campus Works closely with the Pottawattamie County Animal Shelter in Council Bluffs, Iowa
  • They do some of their medical procedures on the animals because their facility is very poor, basically just a shelter
  • They also take their overflow of animals, provide medical care when needed and keep them until adopted

• Around Christmas the springfield campus will have a Hat and Mitten tree and also a food drive for the Kitchen pantry
• Back to school drive for The Kitchen Clinic. There were a total of about 3000 items collected for children who could not afford school supplies.
